The campaign starts out with a fair bit of swearing with some throughout the rest of the campaign (at least the missions he's already completed). I know he's been looking at this game for a long long time so I finally decided to get it for him (after sitting down and talking to him). I guess in general, this would have been better off as a new IP as opposed to a Battlefield game.Īlso, I think people have some nostalgia goggles for the BC 1 and 2 campaigns.
Whether or not it succeeds with it's criticisms is also up for debate, and like I said the multiplayer is a different story.
One of the levels has you taking on a right wing almost proto-MAGA militia too. For instance most of the major villains of the story are cops and the main antagonist is trying to further militarize and privatize the police. There is plenty of criticism of the police in the game, but don't go in expecting some scathing indictment. It was absolutely tone deaf at release but from what I remember of the story it's not exactly some rah rah blue lives matter deal. The conversation around the game thematically is more difficult. Multiplayer is a different story however I did like the heist mode at least. Although most CoD campaigns still blow it out of the water. I found it surprisingly decent to be honest, certainly better than most of the other BF campaigns.
